Applications are open to refugee students,
- who are in the 1st semester of a regular study program at the Ruhr University Bochum during the funding period.
- are foreign students (i.e. persons who did not acquire their higher education entrance qualification in Germany)
- whose entry to Germany was not more than five years ago, in exceptional cases seven years ago (see FAQs)
- who can prove that they have one of the following residence titles:
- §22, §23 Abs. 1,2,4, §23a, §24, §25 Abs 1,2,3,4,5 AufenthG
- §60a AufenthG (temporary suspension of deportation - Duldung)
- §29, §30, §31, §32, §34 Abs. 1,2 and §36 AufenthG: Family members (parents, children, spouses) of those with recognised asylum and refugees according to the Geneva Convention and those entitled to subsidiary protection, if they can additionally prove that they have the residence title of the original beneficiary (the family member who entered the country first)
- whose monthly income (excluding social benefits) is up to 992 euros
Persons who have come to Germany as refugees and have a residence status that has not been mentioned here (e.g. asylum procedure still ongoing, naturalisation), please contact us directly.
If you are naturalised (eingebürgert) or granted a permanent residence permit (Niederlassungserlaubnis), you are no longer entitled to the scholarship.
