Scholarship for international students

Eligible are students:

• who are enrolled in a regular course of study at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum
• who have a foreign nationality
• who have not obtained their university entrance qualification (e.g. the Abitur) in Germany
• who are at least in third semester at RUB during the funding period (Exception: Master's students with a previous Bachelor's degree from RUB can also apply before the third semester)
• whose monthly income (except our scholarship) is up to 1030 Euros gross during the funding period

If you are naturalised (eingebürgert), you are no longer entitled to the scholarship.

• If you do not receive BAföG:
  • 500€/month
  • Over a six-month period
• If you receive BAföG at the same time:
  • 300€/month
  • Over a six-month period
• In addition to the financial support, there is an accompanying programme, with e.g. group meetings and individual consultation.

• Letter of motivation*
• Curriculum vitae (CV)*
• Letter of recommendation from a university lecturer**
• Copy of the residence permit or passport*
• Copy of the bank statements for all your bank accounts*
• BAföG notice (if available)*
• Current study certificate*
• Transcript of records*
• Confirmation of the department (only mandatory if you plan to graduate within the next two semesters)*
• Proof of social engagement
