Studienspur Plus

For people without a direct university entrance qualification, Studienspur Plus offers the opportunity to catch up on content.

Studienspur Plus prepares international prospective students for studying at Ruhr University Bochum, including subject-specific preparation, language and social integration.

Goals

German language skills at C1 level

Preparation for a study aptitude test

  • subject-specific preparation for the TestAS
  • mathematics and natural sciences course or humanities and social sciences course
  • TestAS format training

Systemic and social integration at the RUB

  • Get to know the requirements for studying
  • Acquire study-relevant skills
  • Perceiving the campus as a living space
  • Meeting RUB students and contact persons
  • Getting to know digital teaching and learning platforms

The Structure

Studienspur Plus begins with an onboarding process on the campus of Ruhr University. During the onboarding you will get to know RUB, Studienspur and the International Office better. The German courses then start. As soon as you have successfully completed level B1, you will attend subject-specific courses in addition to the German course. These will prepare you for the TestAS. After completing Studienspur Plus, the International Office will support you with your application and the start of your studies.

Studienspur offers numerous events that support social and systematic integration.

Requirements and Application

You can apply if:

  • You are interested in studying at RUB
  • You either
    • have a residence status as a refugee in Germany (e.g. residence permit as a refugee, Aufenthaltsgestattung, Duldung, family reunification, residence permit according to § 24 AufenthG...),
    • have fled Ukraine and are currently still in Germany without a residence permit on the basis of their passport, ID card or Ukrainian residence permit under the Ukraine Transitional Residence Regulation
    • or have a visa for study preparation in Germany
  • You have an indirect university entrance qualification (Studienspur Plus replaces attendance at a preparatory college)

You will need these documents for your application:

  • Front and back of your residence permit
  • School report (scan of the original and a certified German, English or French translation)
  • If available, proof of having passed the university entrance examination, for example from Turkey, Lebanon, Iran, etc. (scan of the original and a certified German, English or French translation)
  • Marriage certificate, if applicable, if the name on the certificate does not match the name on the residence permit
  • A passport photo
  • If available, proof of German courses already completed

How you can apply

It is possible to apply for Studienspur Plus twice a year.

Application period

  • Applications for the summer semester 2025 are no longer possible.
  • The application for the winter semester 2025/26 is possible from June 17, to July 15, 2025.

The entire application process takes place online via our application portal. You cannot submit documents in person or by post. The link to our application portal will be published here at the start of the application process.
