Participation requirements?

You can apply if. . .

  • You are interested in studying at the Ruhr University Bochum
  • You have either
    • a residence status as a refugee in Germany (for example, a residence permit as a refugee, Aufenthaltsgestattung, family reunification, a residence title pursuant to Section 24 of the Residence Act (Aufenthaltsgesetz, AufenthG)...),
    • fled Ukraine and are staying in Germany with your Ukrainian passport, ID or Ukrainian residence title without a German residence title according to the statutory order from March 9th, 2022 (Ukraine-Aufenthalts-Übergangsverordnung)
    • or a visa for study preparation in Germany
  • You have a university entrance qualification (HZB) (for example, the Abitur, a Bachelor's or Master's degree)

How can I apply?

The Integra-programme is offered multiple times a year.

Application deadlines

  • For the summer semester: January 11th - 31st
  • For the winter semester: presumably July

The entire application process takes place online via our application portal. During the application phase, you can find the link to the application portal here.

What documents do I need for the application?

For the application you need the following documents as a PDF document:

  • Front and back of your residence title
  • Certified copy of degree certificate (original language and a German, English or French certified translation)
  • If available, a certified copy of the university entrance exam (e.g. from Turkey, Lebanon, Iran, etc.)
  • If available, proof of academic achievements, e.g. Transcript of Records in certified copy (original language and a German, English or French certified translation)
  • If available, a certified copy of the university degree certificate (original language and a German, English or French certified translation) + Transcript of Records
  • Possible marriage certificate, if the name on the transcript does not match the name your residence title
  • A passport photo for your student ID card
  • Your letter of motivation in German or English (maximum one page). Please answer the following questions:
    • Introduce yourself briefly and describe your educational background (school, university)
    • What would you like to study and what career aspirations do you have?
    • Why are you particularly interested in the RUB's Integra-program?

You will upload the documents to the online form when you apply. The examination of your documents exclusively takes place online. However, you should be prepared for your original certificates to be requested by the Admissions Office.

What is my status at the Ruhr University?

As an Integra-participant you are enrolled either as a guest student or a language course student at the Ruhr University.

For everybody this means:

  • use of the RUB infrastructure (e. g. attending lectures, using the library)
  • Attendance in lectures is possible, however acquisition of credits is not

For language course students who have paid the social contribution to RUB this means:

  • The semester ticket for public transport in North Rhine-Westphalia is included

What does the participation in the programme cost?

The Integra-programme is free of charge for all participants. Participants can choose to pay the social contribution to RUB in order to receive a semester ticket for public transport. Additionally, learning materials (e.g. books) have to be paid for by the participants.
