The Ruhr University Bochum welcomes prospective students with refugee backgrounds and would like to support them with their start in Bochum. Here you will find an overview of the current offers of the International Office for prospective students with a refugee background.

Study preparation program

With the Studienspur and the Übergangssemester programs, the International Office offers preparatory courses consisting of language courses, specialist courses and preparatory classes for the acquisition of study-relevant competences. Once you have started your actual studies, the International Office will continue to support you with courses during your studies and a program for integration into the labour market.

We are changing our name

Integra is now called Studienspur!

Studienspur

  • Provides prospective students with a refugee background systematic preparation for their studies at Ruhr University Bochum
  • Program parts: two-week onboarding course and Studienspur as an intensive program
  • German courses (A1 to C1 level), propaedeutic classes and individual counselling
  • Prepares for the TestDaF examination (recognized language examination for studying)

  • Special online offer only for parents and people with care responsibilities
  • Systematic preparation of international prospective students for studying at RUB
  • Online German courses (A1-C1 level), propaedeutic events and individual consultations

Übergangssemester

You have already passed your final German examination qualifying you for your studies in Germany (e.g. TestDaF, telc C1 Hochschule or DSH II or III), but have not yet been able to apply for studies at Ruhr University Bochum?

The Übergangssemester offers participants the opportunity to use the time between their German examination and the start of their studies to attend preparatory language as well as specialized courses and lectures.
