International Welcome

As an international student, you will face many different challenges at the beginning of your studies. Our goal is to support you from the start and help you feel comfortable and find your way in your new environment.

Programme winter term 2024/25

The International Welcome already starts with information events well before the semester begins. The RUBiss team offers the following preparatory events in August/September 2024:

• Preparatory webinar for international regular students (students starting a Bachelor's or Master's degree)
• Preparatory webinar for exchange students (students studying at RUB for one or two semesters)

Online events

During this period, one online event will take place every day at 2 p.m. each of which deals with a topic related to life and study in Bochum.

• Monday, 16.09.2024 Starting your studies at RUB: Information on your enrolment documents, student ID, NRW-Ticket, leisure activities at RUB such as RUBiss events, university sports, music centre etc.
• Tuesday, 17.09.2024 RUB 101: We will explain Moodle, eCampus, RUB-Mail, Zoom etc.
• Wednesday, 18.09.2024 Health insurance in Germany: Which one do I need? What are the differences or advantages? How do I prove my health insurance status at the university? Etc.
• Thursday, 19.09.2024 to be announced
• Friday, 20.09.2024 Financing your studies: Find out how you can finance your studies at RUB. Scholarships, part-time jobs, etc.

Face-to-face events

You can register for the face-to-face events from the beginning of September! We will then publish the registration link here on the homepage.

• Friday, 04.10.2024 Campus tour and welcome on campus; dinner together in the Rote Bete (Mensa)
  • Registration starts at the beginning of September!
• Saturday, 05.10.2024 Guided tour of Bochum followed by a night out in the Bermuda Dreieck
  • Registration starts at the beginning of September!
• Sunday, 06.10.2024 Living Diversity – Communication, Reflection, and Empowerment im Euroeck (Spechtsweg 20, Bochum)
