Erasmus: teaching mobility

The Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) also supports guest lectureships at European partner universities with Erasmus.

Important information

Visiting lecturers should strengthen the European dimension of the host university through their stay, complement its teaching offer and impart their expertise to students who do not want to or cannot study abroad. Where possible, this should include the development of joint study programmes with partner institutions as well as the exchange of teaching content and methods.

Staff mobility must take place in a destination country ("programme country") that is not the country of the sending institution and not the main country of residence of the person concerned. For teaching purposes, Ruhr-Universität Bochum higher education staff may be promoted to a receiving higher-education institution with ECHE (outbound mobility). Teaching stays within Europe last between two days and two months (excluding travel time); the teaching load is at least eight hours per stay or per week.

Eligible persons

  • Professors and lecturers with contractual relationship to the university
  • Lecturers without endowment
  • Lecturers with contracts for work and services
  • Emeritus professors and retired lecturers
  • Scientific staff
  • Company staff

Programme benefits

Funding is provided for travel and subsistence costs up to a maximum of two weeks in accordance with EU unit costs staggered by destination country.

  • Reimbursement of travel costs
  • Reimbursement of subsistence costs
  • Special grants for sponsored persons with children
  • Special grants for scholars with disabilities

Financial support for Erasmus mobility for teaching or training purposes is based on the different costs of living in the programme countries. Uniform daily rates apply for funding by German higher-education institutions:
