Erasmus additional funding

Erasmus is dedicated to promoting sustainability, equal opportunities and inclusion. Therefore, scholars can apply for various "top-ups" in addition to the regular Erasmus funding rates.

Green Travel

If at least 50 percent of your mobility are covered by "Green Travel", you can apply for the top-up for Green Travel.

The outbound and/or return journey to and/or from the host institution will be by environmentally friendly means of transportation (train, bus, carpooling) as part of the planned Erasmus+ stay. Additional funding of one-time 50 Euros for green travel and up to four additional funding days for a longer journey to and/or from the host institution can be granted. To register for the Erasmus top-up for Green Travel, please use the honorary declaration on sustainable travel/"Green Travel".

Please upload the honorary declaration in your online grant application (for an Erasmus+ study or traineeship abroad).

Additional funding for participants with fewer opportunities (long-term mobility)

In case of a long-term mobility (of at least 60 days), the following persons can apply for this additional funding:

  • Participants with a disability (at least 20 degrees)
  • Participants with a chronic illness with additional financial needs abroad
  • Participants with child(ren)
  • Employed students
  • First-generation university students

Participants with fewer opportunities receive 250 Euros per month in addition to the regular Erasmus funding rates.

The additional funding can be applied for via the honorary declaration for participants with fewer opportunities (long-term). Please upload the honorary declaration in your online grant application (for an Erasmus+ study or traineeship abroad).

Participants with a disability, chronic illness or child can also apply for reimbursement of the actual costs. You can find more information here:

Additional funding for participants with fewer opportunities (short-term mobility)

In case of a short-term mobility (of 5 to 30 days), the following persons can apply for this additional funding:

  • Participants with a disability (at least 20 degrees)
  • Participants with a chronic illness with additional financial needs abroad
  • Participants with child(ren)
  • Employed students
  • First-generation university students

Participants with fewer opportunities receive a one-time payment of 100 Euros for a stay of 5 to 14 days and a one-time payment of 150 Euros for a stay of 15 to 30 days in addition to the regular Erasmus funding rates. Furthermore, participants with fewer opportunities get a travel allowance.

The additional funding can be applied for via the honorary declaration for participants with fewer opportunities (short-term). Please upload the honorary declaration in your online grant application (for an Erasmus+ study or traineeship abroad).
