Campus Guides

Each semester, the International Office looks for volunteer "Campus Guides" to accompany incoming international students during their first term at the Ruhr-Universität.

To help new international exchange and regular students get started with their studies, the RUBiss team at the International Office organizes an International Welcome before the start of each semester. During this orientation phase, important formalities are taken care of at the beginning of the semester, counseling services are offered, and students are introduced to RUB and the Bochum area through events and excursions. We would be delighted to have your support as a volunteer campus guide!

A large part of the task is supervising and conducting a campus tour. As a campus guide, you will supervise a group of new international first-year students together with at least one other person. The groups are supervised in German and/or English.

After successfully participating in all events, you will receive a certificate.

Your tasks as Campus Guides?

Accompanying and assisting international students during several International Welcome events between March 23 and April 12, 2026.

If you would like to become a Campus Guide, please make sure that you are available to attend the mandatory events.

The mandatory dates before and during the International Welcome:

  • Thursday, March 19, 3:30 p.m. - approx. 5:30 p.m.
    Preparatory meeting at Euroeck, Spechtsweg 20 in Bochum
  • Monday, March 23, 2:00 p.m. - approx. 4:00 p.m.
    Online information events for international students
  • Tuesday, March 31, 1:30 p.m. - approx. 3:00 p.m.
    Preparatory campus tour for you as campus guides
  • Friday, April 10, expected to start at 11:00 a.m.
    Conducting a campus tour with the international students

Voluntary participation:

  • Saturday, April 11, starting at 2:00 p.m.
    City tours of Bochum
