Ruhr University Bochum is actively and sustainably committed to the integration of refugees. We are firmly convinced that academia and research know no boundaries and are happy to make our contribution in welcoming incoming refugees.
The International Office's regular refugee consultation hours in cooperation with the Admission Office and the Student Advice Centre is the first point of contact for prospective-student refugees.
As one of the first in Germany, RUB has established programmes that help academics, who have escaped their homeland, study here. At its peak, 500 refugees were enrolled in our so-called Integra programme per semester.
Since its conception, about 50 former programme participants have already been able to begin their studies at RUB. Although finished with the Integra programme, additional service are available for former participants. Escaped educators as well as scholars and researchers at risk can also receive additional support on their way into professional life.
Without the support of our volunteers the various offers and services of University without Borders would hardly be capable. That is why we would like to further encourage volunteer participation in our various programmes.
In cooperation with other RUB institutions, Department 2 (Student Service & International Office) is continuously expanding its advisory and support services for prospective students, current students, educators and scholars with a refugee background. University without Borders is continously growing and is also active in non-university sectors.
