Regarding the services of the International Office of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum
International Office Code of Conduct
The following Code of Conduct applies to all events, courses, consultations, and other services of the International Office. We aim to create a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment where all participants feel welcome and valued. This code establishes the behavioral standards that apply to all those involved. By participating in our programs, attendees agree to, respect, and commit to upholding this code.
Respect and tolerance:
We welcome people of all genders, races, ethnicities, abilities, cultures, religions, and sexual orientations. All participants shall behave respectfully toward one another, regardless of their identities.
Furthermore, the employees of the International Office are to be treated with respect and appreciation for their roles as organizers and their instructions are to be followed accordingly.
Abusive behavior:
Aggressive behavior will not be tolerated. This means that all participants must respect and honor the boundaries of others. This includes all forms of violence and harassment, including those of a sexual nature.
Discrimination:
Any form of discrimination, such as racism, sexism, homophobia, ableism, and other types of degradation or exclusion, will not be tolerated.
Conflict culture:
Conflicts are to be dealt with openly and respectfully. Differing opinions are to be tolerated, as long as they are not discriminatory. Insults and provocations are will not be tolerated.
Photos and videos:
Visual media representations of event participants will only be taken and distributed with the express consent of the persons depicted in them. This also applies to digital events.
Participants are moreover encouraged to state openly if they do not wish to be photographed or filmed.
The International Office uses photos and video footage of many of its events by publishing them on its affiliated social media platforms. By participating in the events organized by the International Office, participants consent to their likenesses being depicted on these platforms unless this consent is actively revoked.
Consequences:
We reserve the right to enforce our householders‘ rights in order to ensure compliance with our rules and guidelines and to ensure the well-being of all participants. Anyone who disregards the Code of Conduct may be excluded from the services of the International Office, either permanently or with immediate effect.
The employees of the International Office also pledge to comply with the Code of Conduct.
