Iris Vernekohl
Iris Senior is Senior Policy Advisor for Global Engagement at Ruhr University Bochum, where she leads the university’s program on Academic Freedom, Solidarity, and Global Citizenship.
In addition to this, Iris is a member of the Steering Committee of the Germany Section of the Scholars at Risk Network, Institutional Liasion to the New University in Exile Consortium and Chair of the Utrecht Network Task Force Responsible Internationalization and Global Engagement: Promoting Academic Freedom and Academic Responsibility in International Higher Education“.
Before joining the International Office at Ruhr University Bochum, Iris was a DAAD Senior Lecturer in Development Economics at the DAAD African Excellence Centre South African-German Centre for Development Research and the Institute for Social Development at the University of the Western Cape.
Her work centers on academic freedom, global social responsibility, and ethical internationalization in higher education.
