Study Abroad in Asia

Within the scope of the interdisciplinary exchange programs with our partners in Asia, tuition fees will not be charged at the host university. Additional funding by the PROMOS program is possible.

China

Please not: Admission to courses at the School of Economics and Management (SEM) is only possible with a grade point average of 2.0 or better.

Tongji University will grant a scholarship of approx. €100 per month to four of the total eight students nominated by RUB's International Office. In addition, the university will provide these four students with free student housing.

Republic of Korea

For students of all study fields (except Medicine)

Students need a grade point average of at least 2.0 (German grading system).

For students of Korean Studies and East Asian Studies only

Students need a grade point average of at least 2.0 (German grading system).

Students need a grade point average of at least 2.0 (German grading system).

Taiwan

Students need a grade point average of at least 2.0 (German grading system).

Students need a grade point average of at least 2.0 (German grading system).

Japan

Application for an exchange spot at Osaka University is only possible with a grade point average of 2.0 or better.

Application for an exchange spot at the University of Tsukuba is only possible with a grade point average of 2.2 or better.

Important Notes and Restrictions

  • Please make sure to check whether your field of study is offered at the universities of your choice. If applicable, there are subject-related restrictions.
  • Please note that the academic calendar at the host university may differ from those at Ruhr-Universität Bochum.
  • To study at our partner universities in Asia, at least a B2-level English proficiency is required. Valid proof must be provided as part of the application process. Knowledge of the local language is not required, but recommended.
