How to organise your Erasmus internship

The application before the start of your Erasmus internship abroad as well as formalities during and after your stay need to be taken care of to make your stay a complete success! Here we have compiled everything you need to consider.

Before your Erasmus funded internship abroad

At least four weeks before your Erasmus placement:

To receive the first grant instalment of 80 % of the total grant:

  • Sign the Erasmus Grant Agreement (GA). The GA regulates your rights, obligations as well as the duration and amount of your grant. Send the original back to us. Unfortunately, as this is a contract, we cannot accept scans.
  • Take the EU online language test (OLS) (you will receive an invitation by email).

If there are any changes to the conditions of your internship placement:

Shortly before the end of your internship:

Problems, difficulties and hardships:

Sometimes getting settled in a foreign country is harder than expected. Experiencing a "culture shock" is not an unusual phenomenon, but luckily, these feelings are usually only temporary.

If you have any problems or doubts while abroad, please feel free to contact RUB's International Office.

Together we can certainly find a solution.

In cases of hardship, RUB's Psychological study counseling offers individual counseling and can provide helpful information sources.

After your Erasmus funded internship abroad

To receive the second instalment of the Erasmus grant amounting to 20 % of the total grant, no later than 30 days after the end of your internship:

  • Submit the Learning agreement after the mobility (page 3) to the International Office showing the actual duration of the internship
  • Submit the internship certificate
  • Complete the online EU Survey (an invitation will be sent to you by email)
  • Submit your final experience report. If you would like to make your experience available to other students, please also send us an anonymised form and we will make your experience report available on our homepage.
  • If applicable, have the internship abroad recognised by your department or faculty and submit the proof of recognition
