Campus Guides

To help new international exchange and regular students get started with their studies, the RUBiss team at the International Office organizes an International Welcome before the start of each semester. During this orientation phase, important formalities are taken care of at the beginning of the semester, counseling services are offered, and students are introduced to RUB and the Bochum area through events and excursions. We would be delighted to have your support as a volunteer campus guide!

A large part of the task is supervising and conducting a campus tour. As a campus guide, you will supervise a group of new international first-year students together with at least one other person. The groups are supervised in German and/or English.

After successfully participating in all events, you will receive a certificate.

Application

The application deadline for the 2026/27 winter semester is August 10, 2026.

You will receive notification shortly thereafter as to whether or not you have been admitted to the program.

How do you apply?

Please send an email to rubiss@rub.de with the following information:

Subject: Application to be a Campus Guide for the 2026/27 winter semester

• Your name, age, degree program, and which semester you are in
• Reasons why you would like to become a Campus Guide and support international students
• Describe your own experiences studying abroad or working with groups

Please simply include this information in the body of the email; you do not need to attach any documents or a resume.
