Campus Guides

Each semester, the International Office looks for volunteer "Campus Guides" to accompany incoming international students during their first term at the Ruhr-Universität.

In order to make it easier for incoming exchange and international regular students to start their studies, the RUBiss team of the International Office organises orientation days each semester. During these orientation days, important formalities are taken care of, counseling opportunities are offered, and incoming students are introduced to German culture and Bochum's surrounding area through various events and excursions. In addition to these services, Campus Guides offer their mentees informal support and guidance during their first days on campus and mentor them throughout their first term.

Your tasks as Campus Guides?

Accompanying and supporting international students during some of the International Welcome events in the period from September 22 to October 12, 2025.

If you would like to become a Campus Guide, please make sure that you can attend the mandatory dates.

The mandatory dates before and during the International Welcome:

Thursday, September 18, 3:30 - approx. 5:30 pm
Preparatory meeting at Euroeck, Spechtsweg 20 in Bochum
Monday, September 22, 2:00 - approx. 4:00 pm
Information events for international students online
Tuesday, September 30, 1:30 - approx. 2:30 pm
Preparatory campus tour for you as Campus Guides
Thursday, October 09
- probably from 11:00
  Conducting a campus tour with the international students
- Afterwards
  event with & from student initiatives, accompanying the international students at the event.

Voluntary participation:

Saturday October 11, from 2:00 pm
Guided city tours through Bochum

As a Campus Guide, you are also welcome to participate in other events during the orientation phase and during the semester together with your mentees.

Why should you become a Campus Guide?

You will expand your intercultural competence and your international network
You will improve your foreign language skills
You will get to know new cultures
You will be an important contact person for your foreign fellow students.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate for your work as a Campus Guide.

The registration deadline for the winter semester 2025/26 is 10th September!
