BAföG

Benefits under the German Federal Training Assistance Act (Bundesausbildungsförderungsgesetz - BAföG for short) are loans issued by the federal government that students in need can use to finance their studies and are only to be repaid in half without interest.

The awarding of BAföG to international students is done according to §8 BAföG and is unfortunately very complex.

At the university, the International Office does not offer advice on BAföG instead AStA and AKAFÖ handle all matters BAföG related, including providing information on requirements and regulations for international students.
