Orientation Days for international students

To make it easier for you to start your studies, RUBiss (RUB - international student services) organizes orientation days for new international students before the start of the semester.

At the orientation days you will receive helpful information about starting your studies (whether from your home country or locally), introductions to the common programs of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB), get to know fellow students online and much more! In addition, you will be supported by the so-called Campus Guides.

The next orientation days will take place at the beginning of the summer semester 2021 from April 7-10. Here you can register bindingly for the orientation days!

Who are the Campus Guides?

The Campus Guides are RUB students from higher semesters. They volunteer their time to support you during your first steps and during your first semester at RUB. They accompany you during the orientation days, answer your first questions about the study program or take part in the language café with you, for example.

In addition, they will meet with you regularly (online) during the semester and provide you with advice and support. This is how you make your first contacts at the RUB - and who knows, maybe a friendship will develop beyond the first semester!

You will get to know the Campus Guides during the orientation days!

Preparatory courses, placement tests etc.

Some degree courses have preparatory courses that take place before the lecture period starts. They prepare you for your studies and we strongly encourage you to take part in them. Placement tests for language courses offered by the University Language Centre (Zentrum für Fremdsprachenausbildung, ZFA) also require early registration.
