Scholarships provided by the International Office of Ruhr-Universität

This upcoming wintersemester the International Office awards four different scholarships to international students. The University Entrance Scholarship and the Study Scholarship is aimed at international students with a refugee background. The Graduation Grant and the Corona-Specialgrant is aimed at all international students. Further information on the respective scholarships can be found here.

Important

You need a German or European bank account (with IBAN and BIC) for the payment of the scholarships.


University Entrance Scholarship for international students with a refugee background

The International Office of RUB offers University Entrance Scholarships funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

THE APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR THE WINTER SEMESTER 2020/21 ENDS ON 13 SEPTEMBER 2020!

The scholarship is primarily aimed at former Integra participants who:

  • start studying at RUB in the winter semester 2020/21 (first semester)
  • have achieved good to very good results in their study preparation programmes
  • are dependent on financial support for their entry into university

The scholarships will be paid at a monthly rate of 400€ over a period of six months (October 2020-March 2021).
They are granted by a board of experts appointed by the International Office with special consideration of good performance during the preparatory programme and financial need.

HOW TO APPLY
Applications can only be submitted online.

STEP 1:
Before you complete the online survey (Step 2), please prepare the following files as PDF:
  • your motivational letter (1 page max., please include the following points: Your plans for your studies and afterwards, your general and financial situation in Germany, your social commitment)
  • A letter of recommendation from a university teacher or Integra staff member (upon request, the university teacher can also send this letter directly to International Office)
  • Your curriculum vitae
  • A proof of your achievements in a preparatory programme for your studies (e.g. Integra-12, Integra-24, transition semester, ...)
  • A copy of your university entrance qualification (Abitur or diploma from an undergraduate or Master's programme) with a certified translation
  • A proof of your language skills at the time of application
  • A copy of your residence permit
  • Your admission for a place at RUB for the winter semester 2020/21
  • Bank statements of the last three months
  • Optional: Certificate of voluntary commitment (can be advantageous, but is not mandatory)

Study Grants for international students with a refugee background

The International Office of RUB offers study grants funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

THE APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR THE WINTER SEMESTER 2020/21 ENDS ON 13 SEPTEMBER 2020!

The scholarships are aimed at international students with a refugee background who:

  • are studying in their second semester (or higher) at the RUB
  • have residence permit as a refugee
  • require at least two more semesters of study
  • have achieved good to very good performances during their studies
  • are dependent on financial support for their degree


The scholarships are amounting to 400€ monthly for a period of 12 month (October 2020-September 2021). The scholarships are awarded by a selection committee of the International Office with special consideration of good performance during the previous studies and financial need.

HOW TO APPLY
Applications can only be submitted online.

  • optional: certificate about social commitment (may be advantageous though it is not a requirement)

Graduation Grants for international students

The International Office of RUB offers graduation grants funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

THE APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR THE WINTER SEMESTER 2020/21 ENDS ON 13 SEPTEMBER 2020!

The scholarships are offered to international students who:

  • are studying at RUB and graduated from a foreign school and/or completed their first university degree abroad
  • are close to their final degree (Bachelor; Master; State Examination or equivalent degree), thus plan their graduation within the winter semester 2020/21
  • effected good to very good performances during their studies
  • are reliant on financial support during their final phase of study

The scholarships are amounting to 400€ monthly within a period of six months (October 2020-March2021).
They will be awarded by a selection committee of the International Office with special consideration of good performances during the previous studies and financial needs.

HOW TO APPLY
Applications can only be submitted online.

Corona-Specialgrant for international students

The International Office of RUB offers Corona-Specialgrants funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

THE APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR THE WINTER SEMESTER 2020/21 ENDS ON 13 SEPTEMBER 2020!

The scholarships are aimed at international students who:

  • are studying at RUB and graduated from a foreign school and/or completed their first university degree abroad
  • have already attained at least 60CP in their Bachelor's degree or are in their second semester of the Master's degree (or higher)
  • require at least two more semesters of study
  • have achieved good to very good performances during their studies
  • are in financial need as a result of the Corona pandemic


The scholarships are amounting to 400€ monthly for a period of six month (October 2020-March 2021). The scholarships are awarded by a selection committee of the International Office with special consideration of good performance during the previous studies and financial need.

DAAD-Freundeskreis

The DAAD-Freundeskreis is the alumni association of the German Academic Exchange Service. DAAD scholarship holders and alumni can get acquainted and take part in events and excursions.
