Are you interested in studying at Ruhr-Universität Bochum? You have a university entrance qualification but do not yet have sufficient German language skills to apply for the degree programme? Would you like to prepare for your studies in the best possible way?

Then apply for the study preparation programme "Integra-24"!

Ruhr-Universität Bochum’s International Office has been offering "Integra-24" for refugees for the past several years and starting summer term 2021 this study preparation programme is open for all international prospective students.

What does the programme include?

  • Free participation in the preparatory language courses (A2-C1, online or face-to-face) in the afternoon, including the first TestDaF exam
  • A free, mandatory study preparation programme consisting of workshops and information sessions
  • Support from the International Office team

What is the Integra-24 programme?

Integra-24 comprises the preparatory intensive courses as well as a propaedeutic programme with a total of 24 h/week (hence the name Integra-24).

The propaedeutic programme prepares prospective students with and without a refugee background specifically for their studies at Ruhr-Universität. It consists of voluntary and mandatory events which build upon each other and include social as well as systemic components.

  • Study preparation and orientation: one consultation appointment per course block. Topics include: study interest; guest student support; volunteer work & engagement; space for questions and comments
  • Workshops and information sessions, for example:
    • Communication, self-reflection and empowerment
    • Microsoft Office workshop
    • Scholarship information session
    • Career information session
  • Sprachcafé Integra
  • Frauentreff Integra
  • Lerntreff Integra-24

What are the participation requirements?

Who can participate in Integra-24 and what are the requirements?

  • All international prospective students with a residence in North Rhine-Westphalia
  • Successful completion of the A2/B1 language course
  • Interest in studying at Ruhr-Universität
  • Preference is given to applicants from outside the European Economic Area who are both under 30 years old and live in Bochum or the surrounding area

How can I apply?

Integra is offered at several start dates throughout the year.

Application period

  • It is currently NOT possible to apply for Integra.
  • The next application period will be announced in good time on our homepage. It is expected to be in January/February 2023 (subject to change).
  • The corresponding German courses will then begin in April 2023.

Applications can only be made online via a form.


As part of the Integra programme, you have to enroll as a language student at Ruhr-Universität Bochum. This incurs costs in the amount of the social contribution.
