Graduation Grant for international students

International students with or without a refugee background who

• are enrolled at Ruhr-Universität Bochum,
• hold a foreign nationality,
• have not obtained their higher education entrance qualification (e.g. Abitur) at a German school,
• are in the final stage of their studies and aim to graduate during summer semester 2023 or winter semester 2023/24.

• If you do not receive BAföG:
  • €500/month
  • Over a six-month period
• If you receive BAföG at the same time:
  • €300/month
  • Over a six-month period
• In addition to the financial support, there is an accompanying programme, with e.g. group meetings and individual consultation.

• Letter of motivation (around one page)*
• Curriculum vitae (CV) (max. two pages)*
• Letter of recommendation from a university lecturer on academic performance and prospects of academic success**
• Copy of the residence permit (or passport for EU citizens)*
• Bank statements for the last three months (March, April, May) for all of your bank accounts*
• BAföG notification (if available)*
• Current certificate of enrollment*
• Transcript of records*
• Department's confirmation*
• Proof of social commitment or special achievements
