1. Re-registration
You must re-register for every semester you continue studying at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB). This isn't the same as enrolment. It just means you need to pay your social fee again within a given period of time, i.e. before the “re-registration deadline”.
You can view the re-registration deadlines here:
N.B.: It's important to keep to the stated re-registration deadlines!
If you re-register too late you'll have to pay a penalty of about 10 euros. In the worst case you could be excluded from the university!
There are two ways you can re-register:
a) Transfer the social fee:
You can print out transfer slips for each semester on the computers in the foyer of the university administration building.
b) Use direct debit:
The social fee will be taken from your account automatically. The advantage of this is that you can't miss the re-registration deadlines.
You can download the application for direct debit from the registrar's office (Studierendensekretariat) website and hand it in there when you've filled it in.
